Acting as PRC and international counsel, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) advised Bank of Zhengzhou Co., Ltd. (Bank of Zhengzhou, Stock Code: 6196) on its issuance of US$1.191billion 5.50% non-cumulative perpetual offshore preference shares on 18 October 2017. Such preference shares are Bank of Zhengzhou’s additional tier 1 (AT1) capital, and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) is expanding its European platform to further enhance its cross-border capability with the addition of corporate and finance partners, Hui Zhao and Daniel Ehret who will both join the Frankfurt office on 1 October 2017.Consistent with KWM’s global and German strategic priorities, Hui Zhao and Daniel Ehret bring significant additional corporate finance expertise including for clients involved in Sino-German investments. They will complement the currently four partner-strong Frankfurt team of Christian Cornett, Rudolf Haas, Rüdiger Knopf and Sandra Link, who together re-formed the KWM firm in Germany earlier this year with the establishment of KWM Europe Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. While the German team has already grown over the last months, e.g. by the joining of corporate counsel Tilmann Becker, Hui Zhao and Daniel Ehret are the first of a group of partners to join.

On 19 May 2017, BOCOM International Holdings Company Limited (BOCOM International, stock code: 3329), advised by King & Wood Mallesons (KWM), was successfully listed on the main board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (SEHK). The basic issuance size was approximately 667 million shares, priced at HK$2.68 per share, raising approximately HK$1.68 billion. The transaction involved Bank of Communications, an A + H shares listed company, spinning off its subsidiary BOCOM International to be listed on SEHK, making BOCOM International the first listed securities firm with a PRC bank background  in Hong Kong.

King & Wood Mallesons confirmed today that Sue Kench has been appointed as Global Managing Partner, effective 1 June 2017.

Sue has held the role of Chief Executive Partner Australia since 2013 and over that time the Australian business has gone from strength to strength, gaining market share, growing profit and revenue and winning a range of coveted awards. She is a current member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee and International Management Committee.

Sue will lead the firm’s global strategy and operations with a focus on cementing KWM as the leading international firm in Asia.
