More than 60 new Chinese companies were added to the list of “Chinese military companies” operating in the United States (the “CMC List” or “Section 1260H List”), mandated by Section 1260H of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. On June 8, 2026, the U.S. Department of Defense published an update adding the new entities and removing some entities, resulting in a total of 188 designated firms. The effects of the notice on these Chinese companies are extensive. However, the companies do have options as we highlight below.
