On 28 November 2024, the newly amended Supervision Law of the People’s Republic of China was adopted by the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) and is set to take effect on 1 June 2025. This amendment focuses on strengthening the oversight and restrictions on supervisory powers, with an emphasis on safeguarding citizens’ rights.
